Abstract—The projection method involving a Godunov type discretization for convective terms is applied to natural convection in water within a vertical slot. The variation of Nusselt number is examined for a range of Rayleigh numbers by imposing elevated temperature on the left wall and allowing convective heat transfer on the right. The results illustrate that heat transfer increases asymptotically with increasing Biot number. The rate of increase is a function of Rayleigh number and becomes more significant at higher Rayleigh numbers, as expected.
